Common Vocabulary Framework

One of the challenges governments must face to promote wide use of public (open) data is how to standardize vocabulary to ensure that anonymous users with diverse needs, skills, education, and other backgrounds can extract the same value from those data. It is also important for the systems’interoperability as errors may occur if vocabulary of data is not well-defined for different systems. Secondary use of those inconsistent data may also be difficult.

In order to solve these problems, IPA is driving the Common Vocabulary Standardization Project for standardized definitions of terms in data with proper context and attributes to supplement them.
