“Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Training for Indo-Pacific Region” was held

The Industrial Cyber Security Center of Excellence (ICSCoE) in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provided Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Training for the Indo-Pacific Region(*1), which was held online from February 7 to 9, 2022.

This training program, hosted by JICA, introduces the latest cybersecurity trends, necessary measures and incident response processes to infrastructure operators and cybersecurity policy experts from relevant ministries/authorities in countries in the region with the aims of building the capacity necessary to develop, implement, and enhance security policies and initiatives of each participating country by exchanging information and networking with the lecturers and participants from other countries.

  • A hands-on exercise using the simulated plant on remote manipulation

The ICSCoE provided hands-on exercises using a simulated plant for nine participants from four countries in the Indo-Pacific Region, which include a group discussion with the lecturers on the security issues the participants are facing and the necessary measures.

In October 2021, the ICSCoE hosted JP-US-EU Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Week for the Indo-Pacific Region in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the government of the United States as well as the European Commission with the aim of enhancing the capacity to ensure cybersecurity for the region. This training program also aiming to improve the cybersecurity capabilities of the entire Indo-Pacific Region, which shares the supply chain with Japan, and strengthening cooperation with countries in the region.
