Visa Request

To visit Japan, you must have a valid passport. A VISA is required for citizens of countries that do not have VISA-exempt agreements with Japan.

Korean Citizens

Korean citizens do not need to apply for an entry VISA. Japanese government has exempted VISA for nationals of the Republic of Korea, since March 1, 2006.

Chinese Citizens

Chinese citizens must apply for an entry VISA at their nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate, however, they are required to submit supporting documentation (official letter of invitation) with their application. To obtain this official letter of invitation, Chinese participants are requested to complete all the fields in the VISA Support Request Form and send it to the Congress Secretariat by fax (FAX +81-3-5216-5552) or by e-mail ( as soon as possible. It is essential that all fields relating to arrival and accommodation in Japan and departure from Japan are completed. Therefore, flight and hotel reservations must be confirmed prior to submitting the form. Once the Congress Secretariat has received the completed VISA Support Request Form, an official letter of invitation will be immediately issued and forwarded to the applicant's postal address.

This documentation will take more than 7-8 days to reach applicants, and once an entry VISA has been requested at the nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate, application processing will take 7-10 days. For these reasons, our deadline for requests for VISA support is September 23 (Wed), 2009.
Requests received after this date will be difficult to process within the time schedule.

Should you have any inquiries, please contact the Congress Secretariat by e-mail (
