OSS Center has been carrying out the field tests to prove OSS usability at the local governments and schools.
This year the following 4 local governments are tackling the field tests.

In the OSS field tests at schools in fiscal year 2004, we verified the utilization of various e-learning contents which were provided by software houses and the utilization of multi-media learning reports which summarized learning results on personal computers.
In addition to the above tests, we also carried out the broad verification tests utilizing OSS where schools collaborated with each other, such as the sharing of learning records by a database management system, and joint learning with other schools by using e-mail and a Bulletin Board System (BBS).
These results were published as a booklet "Let's Introduce an Open Source Computer to Schools!"
