European smart card industrial community has more than a decade of experience of security evaluation and certification for hardware products.
Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA), which is the certification body of Japan's Common Criteria scheme, has undergone training of hardware vulnerability analysis at European evaluation facilities, and is working cooperatively to develop sample smart cards to examine the penetration testing competency of evaluation facilities.
Recently IPA has revised the management regulations of Japan Information Technology Security Evaluation and Certification Scheme in order to make hardware evaluation and certification scheme fully operational.
