This is a summary
of Computer Virus Incident Report for the 3rd Quarter (July - September)
2007.
The reported number of virus for the
3 rd Quarter 2007 was 8,301 in total. The graph
underneath (Chart 1) shows the shift in reported number
for every quarter (3 months) received by IPA. As it
is shown in the Chart 1, the reported number is moderately decreasing.
It can be assumed that neither the newer viruses which send number
of mails exist nor such viruses spread. However, in the case of
Spear type of attack (Targeted attack) which targets specific
business or individual, it may not able to detect even using security
software. Accordingly, it is important not to open suspicious
mails or files, etc. as daily preparedness.

graph shows ratio actually infected.
2. Detection Number
for Virus
The detection number of
W32/Netsky, the worst reported number of virus, is also drastically
decreasing in number. It can be assumed that certain countermeasures
against the virus which send number of mails are penetrated among
the users in respective levels.

3. The Reported
Number by Virus
The detection number
of W32/Netsky, the worst reported number of virus, is also drastically
decreasing in number. However, there is the virus which drastically
increases its reported number such as W32/stration, etc. Accordingly,
it is mandatory important to conduct fundamental anti-virus measures
daily such as applying modification programs ,
use of anti-virus software , taking care
for handling the files appended , etc. to prevent damages.
