This is a summary
of Computer Virus Incident Report for the 1st Quarter (January -
March) 2007.
The reported number for the 1 st Quarter
of 2007 (January – March) totaled 9,544 . The
following graph shows the shift in the reported number
filed by IPA for every quarter (every 3 months). The
reported number is being tended to decrease since the 1 st Quarter
of 2006 (January – March). Accordingly, it is expected that
the chance of spreading newly emerged virus may be lessened since
certain anti-virus measures has been widely taken among user community
against the virus which exploits mailing function. However, in
some cases, the virus may not be detected by the anti-virus measures
software; accordingly, it is paramount important not to open suspicious
mails easily.

2. Detected Number
for Virus
Since the variant of W32/Sober
sent quantity of virus mails in the 4 th Quarter of 2005, the
detected number of virus in that quarter became the worst (the
variant had halted its activity in January 2006).
Hereinafter the emergence
of such virus which sends quantity of virus mails is lessened
and the detection number is being tended to be drastically decreased.

3. Reported Number
Classified by Virus
The reported number of
W32/Netsky virus tends to decrease along with its detection number.
In addition, the condition
of spreading virus is being continued. Accordingly, it is essential
to conduct fundamental anti-virus measures routinely such as implementing
Windows Update, applying/updating signatures and/or
being cautious when handle the files appended ,
etc. to prevent any of damages even if newer virus or its variants
emerge.
4. Classification
of Reporters
The breakdown of reporters is as below. The largest number of
reports is from general corporation users which taking over more
than 90% against the entire reports.
