This page provides information on the evaluation of smartcards and similar devices under JISEC scheme.
This page provides technical documents such as specific evaluation methods for Smartcards, which are issued as Common Criteria Supporting Documents from CCRA. These documents are supporting documents, intended for evaluators to complement the CC/CEM during the IT Security Evaluation of Smartcards and related devices. To use these as a reference, it should be noted that there are some differences between the versions and/or revisions of the CC/CEM in these documents and the current effective CC/CEM, and that the Japanese scheme has some differences in regard to the role of the Certification Body mentioned in these documents.
Under the JISEC, the original texts of the mandatory technical documents (standards) shall be effective as follows:
| CCDB-2009-09-001 | Requirements to perform Integrated Circuit Evaluations v1.0 |
| CCDB-2009-03-001 | Application of Attack Potential to Smartcards v2.7 |
| CCDB-2009-03-002 | The Application of CC to Integrated Circuits v3.0 |
| CCDB-2007-09-001 | Composite product evaluation for Smart Cards and similar devices v1.0 |
Followings are supporting documents which are open to the public at CCRA as a significant reference for Smartcard Evaluation, etc.
| CCDB-2010-03-001 | Smartcard Evaluation v2.0 |
| CCDB-2007-09-002 | ETR template for composite evaluation of Smart Cards and similar devices v1.0 |
For the purpose of understanding the above "Mandatory Technical Documents" or "Guidance", some of the old editions are provided as below. Please note that these have some differences from the versions and/or revisions of the current effective CC/CEM.
| CCDB-2008-04-001 | Application of Attack Potential to Smartcards v2.5 |
| CCDB-2006-04-001 | Smartcard Evaluation v1.3 |
In addition to the above, the following document, which is published by CESG, the Certification Body of the United Kingdom, and is available at Common Criteria & ITSEC — Formal Documentation —, will be of value in smartcard evaluation.
The intention of this document is to perform vulnerability analysis and penetration testing from an early stage of the evaluation.
