- METI announces First Certified Products under Japanese IT Security Evaluation and Certification Scheme (December 26, 2002)

Generic Security Service Application Program Interface Version 2, Update 1 - Japanese Certification Body (NITE) has started accepting the application of ST confirmation and Evaluation Laboratory accreditation (March 14, 2002)
- The Japanese IT security evaluation and certification scheme has started its operation (April 2, 2001)
- JIS X 5070 (Japanese Industrial Standard X 5070), which is Japanese version of the ISO/IEC 15408, was published on July, 2000.
