7.テーマ概要(採択者)

Abstarct
In this project, I propose to develop an email environment for sharing objects, focused on the not-real-time collaboration. In other words, it is the environment for the publishing and the subscribing of Squeak Project as Email. It would help people to do authoring objects and exchange them with others, for example, children who want to publish a Project and play it with others, or teachers who make a tutorial and want to deliver it widely. This email environment would provide a step to further stage.

Project Summary
This project aims to develop an email environment for Squeak, which is named "SqueakBasket". "Basket" comes from the desktop metaphor of Star XEROX workstation. SqueakBasket provides some Baskets and other features,
- MailBasket: send and receive Project as email. This provide "Real rich-mail".
- SharedBasket: share objects in it with neighbous.
- LocalBasket, ServerBasket: store objects into a local disk, or remote servers.
- TracingPaper: a transparent wrapper for Project to reply with object.
- MailAgent: scriptable Agent program invoked by email message (optional).
- BasketServer: a container server for objects (optional).
- EasyMessaging: an Instant Messenger using NetMorph (optional).

8.採択理由(担当PM)

This is an excellent and timely proposal. It will both advance the state of the art of human-human communication, and of media authoring tools for computers. The proposal is well written and the project seems quite doable.
