Grid computing is a technology that simultaneously operates
many computers connected to a network as if one large system
was running. Recently, this technology has been widely recognized
to be effective for improving the reliability and security
of business systems.
With the grid computing technology, when the load increases
or a system failure occurs, work underway are automatically
re-assigned by the system to other computers in the resource
pool, as, shown in the above diagram. This method can improve
the reliability and security of the system.
Started in fiscal 2003 and scheduled to be carried out
through fiscal 2005, this project aims at research and development
(the main development body is a consortium comprised mainly
of private enterprises) of business grid middleware (the
core of grid computing technology) and to apply the technology
to the business world by international standardization of
the system interface.
