Efficient Development of Highly Reliable Software
Enterprise Software Project focuses its activities on software for information systems used in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) to those that support large-scaled, social infrastructure, such as, the business and information systems operating in large enterprises ranging from banks, securities firms, hospitals to railroad companies, among others. Such “enterprise software” is not clearly visible to the public eyes, as its existence is hidden behind the services made available by its functional contributions. Nevertheless, enterprise software constitutes a crucial part of the infrastructure for supporting people’s daily lives and socio-economic activities. Enterprise software is typically developed on contract basis, where the contractor (supplier/vendor) is responsible of realizing the software according to the requirements defined by the contractee (acquirer/user).
As regards the specific activities that cover the entire software lifecycle, Enterprise Software Project is working proactively to:
| - | Ensure that the contractee and contractor share common perceptions on the software to be developed; |
| - | Enable the software development to be managed quantitatively by making it “visible” and “measurable”; |
| - | Enhance the reliability and productivity of software; |
| - | Create techniques and guidelines for solving problems faced in enterprise software development, and promote their dissemination. |
