7.Project Summary(プロジェクト概要)

NetMorth provides a new system for seamless network computing. The notion of network location to desktop objects is introduced. By treating the move of objects in desktop and the migration of them in a network, NetMorph helps beginners to acquire the literacy skills of network computing in a natural way.

8.Adoption Reason(採択理由)

This proposal aims directly at a virtual unification of shared object and user interface spaces that are physically distributed and connected by networks. Many different functions at the systems level can be easily done by end-users in a highly intuitive way through visual interaction with the objects on the net.

9.Project Evaluation(プロジェクト評価)

This was a very playful project to make a virtual and graphical world for objects in a system of distributed personal computers on the Internet. They extended the Squeak etoy system in several interesting ways to allow the desktops of the participating users to act as though they are adjacent -- so objects that are moved off the desktop automatically appear on the "adjacent" desktop, even if the physical machine is located halfway around the world. This work extends the Squeak collaboration facilities in a new and useful way. Another excellent piece of work!
